Chapter 23

Nell’s mouth hung open on a silent gasp. The tension rippling off Ace could ignite the room with a single spark.

“Fucking you, or feeding from you.” His normally solemn dark pools burned with amber and hurricane-like forks of lightning. “Better make your choice, witch. Or I’ll do it for you.”

His threat hung in the air between them. Strong fingers yanked her hair, painfully tugging on her scalp. Beneath her palms pressed against his massive chest she could feel the furious beat of his heart. A thunderous pace that perfectly matched her own in the immediate aftermath of all that had just occurred.

Shit, did she want Ace to lose control? Was this what it had come down to between them? The battle between his morals and his monster… where it felt like a choice between two evils. Her greatest fear might just be that in the cold light of day she’d find Ace lost to her, filled with regret for whatever was about to occur.

As if he could read Nell’s mind, Hunter stepped around behind her. Like he had all the time in the world—and wasn’t facing down the raging storm of a barely-contained Ace bristling like a fucking tempest in front of them both—he brushed her hair away from the side of her neck. Dropping an open-mouthed kiss onto the back of her exposed skin.

As if he hadn’t just torn a vampire’s heart straight from his chest just for looking at her.

“Ace, baby…” She could feel Hunter looking at him from over her shoulder. His hot mouth still hovered above her neck and those familiar calloused hands slid up and down her arms. Tattooed hands now covered in barely dried blood. “This is how it’s going to go. You’re going to mark her. You’re going to feel her. There’s no denying she’s yours—ours.”

Shivers of anticipation raced across her skin.

“Is that so?” Ace’s nostrils flared. The deep growl in his voice filled the darkened bedroom with his need. “And what if she doesn’t want either of those things?” His giant chest heaved as he glared at Hunter. The only thing indicating that Ace still knew she was between them was how viciously he gripped her hair.

“You already know she does.” Hunter’s voice was like velvet pouring over her skin. The calm centre tethering the wild forces of Ace’s violent storm. “Isn’t that right, beautiful thing? You want Ace to claim you?”

Nell reached up and wrapped her fingers around the corded muscles of Ace’s forearm. Pleading with her eyes and brush of her touch that he’d look at her. See her.

“Yes. I want that.” Her mountain of a vampire finally… finally… shifted to meet her gaze. Each eye rapidly flitted with colours changing from gold to silver to green and amethyst. “Claim me. Please.”

Hunter’s hands drifted to her front, using his vampire speed to unfasten her dress. The soft material fluttered to the floor, leaving her in cream lace covering her breasts and pussy. Ace’s pupils dilated to full black, and he raked over every inch of her body.
